KurdSat Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) is one of the region’s major Kurdish media outlets consisting of two television channels, two radio stations, several websites and digital platforms.

The KBC is based in Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan region of Iraq. The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) funds the KBC. Former First Lady of Iraq Hero Ibrahim Ahmed founded the KBC in 2000. Kurdsat began its journey on January 1, 2000, with one channel broadcasting for only three hours.

Today, the KBC continues working as the number one family-oriented media and remains the most watched, credible and respected media in the region.

KurdSat has the region’s largest office, including several studios and a vast set area to produce the most compelling premium content for television. Since 2002, Kurdsat has produced up to 34 Tv series. It has also dubbed more than 60 international series and adapted several global formats such as Kurd Idol, considered the highest-rated show and has massive media attention across the country.

KurdSat has expanded its brand portfolio to seize opportunities beyond media coverage. It has organized and participated in many fundraising campaigns and thousands of charity events for those most desperate in society. Raising millions of dollars for refugees and victims of natural and manmade disasters. Zagros Abdullatif Rashid currently directs the KBC and is the CEO of the KBC.
